Buggers (6-10), Pheasant Tails (12-18), Caddis Nymphs (10-18), Black/Brown Stones, Deerfield Stones (10-14), Large Streamers and Bright/Flashy Nymphs. The Deerfield, Westfield and Swift Rivers have had a stocking over the past week. Check the flows before you head out. There is the potential for significant rain on Monday.
Deerfield Fly Shop will be hosting a Womens Fly Fishing Class June 28th from 7am-4pm. The class will be taught by Marla Blair Professional Guide, Instructor and author of Positive Fly Fishing. Marla will start off by covering the basics first here at the shop and continue with time on the water in the afternoon if conditions allow. Equipment will be provided and students are required to wear long pants(no shorts), a warm pair of socks, hat, polarized sun glasses, rain coat and sun screen. Coffee and muffins will be provided in the morning and students are asked to bring a lunch. This is an extensive beginner fly fishing class that will give you the confidence and skills you need to get out on the water and start catching fish. The cost of the class is $195.00 and is limited to 4 students. A deposit of $100.00 is required at sign up to reserve your spot. Please call the shop at 413-397-3665. Deerfield Fly Shop Photo Contest. From now until the end of June send in a photo of a fish you caught and the Deerfield Fly Shop logo (hat,t-shirt or sweatshirt) and be entered to win a $35.00 gift card. Please include the name of the river and your name when you send in the picture. You do not have to say the specific spot just the river or small stream. This is not a big fish contest.
