With the recent warm temps the early dark stone flies have been swarming. May have spotted some tiny BWO mixed in. The water temperature has been staying around 42 degrees so I haven’t seen any surface action during these hatches. Nymphing and streamers is still the way to go. Dark Micro Stones, BWO Nymphs, Pheasant Tails, Olive and Tan Caddis Nymphs, Hares Ear, San Juan Worms and Eggs would all be good choices right now. Olive, Brown and Black Buggers fished deep will produce also. 2-3 strips and a pause is what has been working for me lately. A sinking RIO VersiLeader in the 4-7 ips range or a 200gr sink tip line is the most effective technique for getting down to the fish. Flows have been high with an occasional drop on the lower D below the #2 Buckland dam. Fife has been running in the 900-1200 range during the day. The slower pools are the safer places to wade and the right places to be fishing right now. Always check the flows before heading out.
