Intro Fly Tying Nights at Hitchcock

Always wanted to give fly tying a shot but didn’t know where to start? Started fly tying and ready to take the next step? Either way, we got you covered! Join the Deerfield Fly Shop at Hitchcock Brewing Company on Wednesday, April 6, and Wednesday, April 20, for beginner fly tying nights starting at 6 pm.

Deerfield Fly Shop owner Brian Comfort will lead you through the tying of two to three flies each session.  We will start with basic, relatively simple flies that will introduce tyers to the fundamental techniques of fly tying. Flies to be tied the first class will include the trusty woolly bugger and a simple nymph or two. In the second session we will move on to slightly more complicated flies like a hare’s ear nymph and a foam beetle, with a surprise fly if time permits.

You can attend one or both sessions but please note that the second session will build on techniques covered in the first session. Absolute beginners are encouraged to start with the first session. That said, we will make every effort to accommodate all skill levels at each session.

All materials will be provided. Equipment (a vise and tools) for up to eight tyers will be provided. Please bring your own vise and tools if you have them.

The cost is $25 per session and includes a beer or soft drink as well as all materials and equipment. Pre-registration is required. Email [email protected] to secure your spot or with any questions.
